Can Gio Mangrove Forest is one of the best birding hotspots in Southern Vietnam, located 40 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This area is known by other name "Can Gio Biosphere Reserve".
This reserve has been listed as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. The site is an important wildlife sanctuary in Vietnam as it is characterized by a wetland biosystem dominated by mangrove and many rare species.
Can Gio Mangrove Forest encompasses diverse habitats including mangroves, wetlands, salt marshes, mudflats, and sea grasses. The salt marshes and shrimp ponds are habitats for thousands of migratory shorebirds.
