Best time to visit Lo Xo Pass for a birding trip: December to May
Lo Xo Pass is one of the best birding hotspots in Central Vietnam, located around 50 km to the north-west of Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve and approximately 130 km to the north of Kontum city.
Lo Xo is the name of a mountain pass on the recently-constructed Ho Chi Minh Highway tracing the route of the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail along the border with Laos. This area also recognised as an Important Bird Area (IBA). This IBA is situated in an area of the Central Highlands known as the Kon Tum plateau. The main forest type at the site is lower montane evergreen forest.
