Tam Dao National Park is one of the best birding hotspots in Northern Vietnam, located is about 85 km northwest of Hanoi City. This park was established in 1996.
Tam Dao National Park is based in the Tam Dao range, which is one of the terminal spurs of a larger mountainous area in the Northwest region of Vietnam. This park had one of the highest levels of species richness of any tropical forest with about 1,300 plant and 1,200 animal species, many of which are rare to Tam Dao or northern Vietnam. It is home to more than 300 species of birds.
